as far as I understand Jypiter is only for python, while Zeppelin allows more flexibility, meaning that existing code of any language (if the interpreter is provided) can be invoked... obvioulsy the later attracts a bigger crowed and preserve the investment of a language other than python + anything python related is not excluded... for me it is clear that Zeppelin type of functionality (in this respect) is the way to go both from technical AND business reasons...

This feature request goes well with the request to provide better integration with BigInsights. Zeppelin interpreters like hbase and jdbc (e.g. Bigsql) would be very powerful for working with biginsights.
