Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Only in-memory Temp table

Temporary table only cached in the memory, it does not to write into the temp dbspace.
Requirement from China mobile (CMCC), CMCC use lots of temp table in the following 2 ways:
Create temp table ... with no log;
select * from tab into temp tabname with no log;
there are lots of large temp tables ,
and the I/O on tempdbspaces is very busy, but the disk is not fast enough to do so much temp I/O, it causes the I/O waiting issue.

New feature: only in-memory temp table
there temp table only cached in the memory if the memory (buffer pool) is enough, when drop the temp table, when checkpoint occurs, it does not to write it to disk, just disappear from the server.
It can save lots of I/O.

    We have looked at this idea and there are significant technical considerations attached to this implementation. We will revisit this at a later point in time.
