When running storage optimizations tasks (compress, repack, shrink, defragment) there is no way to monitor the progress of the task.
If the table involved is a huge table, this task could run for several days and there is no way to know the task status.
InformixHQ (Storage->Tables & Indexes) has a tab "Task Status" with two columns named 'Start Time' and 'End Time'. I have seen weird values in these columns.
For a large table, when the task started, the 'End time' column showed a date more than two months in the future. After a week of running, this column showed a date in the past. Finally after two weeks the task ended successfully, and the column showed the real end time. This last value was the only value that made sense. All other values were totally useless. I would be better if this column was empty during execution.
Anywaty, aside from this 'End Time' estimate(?), there is no other way to monitor the running tasks.
At least, I would like to see how many pages were processed since the task started.
