Official support for IDS on Rocky Linux

We raised a support case as follows:

Following the recent change in status of Centos, we have customers who wish to convert their Informix servers to Rocky Linux soon. This will be for both IDS 12.10 and 14.10. Can you confirm that IBM/HCL would support this as if it were RHEL? The Wiki Page says:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Linux

"It is intended to be a downstream, complete binary-compatible release using the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system source code."

Ideally, Rocky Linux should be explicitly added here:

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/informix-server-system-requirements#linux

We are sure IDS 12.10 and 14.10 will work fine on Rocky Linux, but customers will be concerned if not listed. Please request that these combinations are tested sooner than the next release. The Web page should then have a note added showing which alternate Linux distributions are equivalent and therefore supported.

The response was:

We had an internal discussion about that.

From a support point-of-view we don't deny a case only because a different Linux flavor is used.

But when the result is that issue is caused by OS and it can't be reproduced on a certified Linux flavor, support is not able to help further.

Regarding the certification for Rocky Linux, such certifications will need some time.

Can you please open a new feature request for the certification?

This shall start a discussion with Development and Product Management.

And this is the right place to address such a topic.

Please vote for this!

Thanks,
Doug Lawry

14.10.FC10 has been certified on Rocky Linux 8 and 9.1.
