This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

This is regarding Informix HDR (High-Availability Data Replication) and Remote Standalone Secondary (RSS), not replicating block level using OS command or storage replication. The current cluster replication is parsing and sending statements from primary to HDR and RSS. I am requesting replicating change block from primary to HDR and RSS.
Current block-level replication can definitely be done at the infrastructure layer (SAN mirroring, hypervisor replication, snapshots, etc.), but those tools work completely outside Informix. They don’t know anything about database state, checkpoints, logical logs, or what transactions are in flight.
From what I understand from the discussion we've had with client (Skechers), this feature request is asking for Informix itself to do block-level replication. IMO having it built into Informix could offer some nice benefits like cleaner, database-consistent copies, more targeted replication, better cluster integration, smarter handling of corrupt pages, and not being tied to any specific storage vendor…some that I can think of.
