Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Add functionality to pass arguments to TEZ from BIBQ hive process

We would like to request changes in the IAjobs process to allow the passing of memory parameters from IA > TEZ.

We are currently experiencing OOM/GC errors in TEZ where the TEZ process gets killed and the IA job aborts.

Because we have such a large cluster and the queue that this application uses has many resources, it creates this unique issue.  Hadoop Engineering and HDP have given this explanation:


The issue is about Tez engine calculating the number of splits which is dependent on the number of files in the table as well as the amount of resources available in the queue. Tez does the grouping based on these parameters and running into out of memory issues when it was running in a queue with more resources. The issue seems to be very specific to one query and not others.  


Our hadoop engineering team recommends passing in the following parameters:

Our hadoop engineering team is applying a tactical solution where they will increase the AM memory allocations on the hive server url that the IA jobs use. This will also impact all BI jobs that use hive, so we want to limit the timeframe of using this approach.
