Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

loading data with Sales Force Connector for parent child relationships

We want to use the standard relationship fonction existing in Salesforce between the Parent-Child object while loading the data through Datastage.
In the child object, we can specify the External ID of the parent objet and Salesforce automatically assigns the corresponding technical ID.
Example : while loading the Contract (child) object, we can specify external ID of Account (parent) object, i.e. instead of AccountID we specify Account.External_ID__c and Salesforce automatically assigns the corresponding AccountID in child object.
The same requirement also mentioned in Salesforce Developer forum

Thanks in advance,

As per the present functionality of the Salesforce Stage of Information Server, for a Parent-Child Relation, the Child Record can be upserted using either the External ID of the Parent Object or the ID of Parent Object.

For example, for an object "PARENT", for one record we have the fields "ID" as "a2s2G000004FnRkQAK" and the "External ID" as "ExtPARENT00001", then we can load data into the Child Object, for example "CHILD01" using either the "ID" field or the "External ID" of the Parent Object

The record can be loaded into the Child Object (CHILD01) with the data and metadata as follows

    (a) "ExtIDCHILD0001"( External ID CHILD01), "John" (Name CHILD01),"a2s2G000004FnRkQAK" (ID - PARENT)"

    (b) "ExtIDCHILD0001"( External ID CHILD01), "John" (Name CHILD01),"ExtPARENT00001" (External ID - PARENT)"

The example (b) as mentioned above must meet your requirement as I understand. If not, please let us know what is required
