Ok. That means that we have to manually get metadata (XSD) for each IDOC and current stage functionality could not be used.
Advantage of that situation is that we will not paid to IBM for connector maitenance :)
Thank you for taking the time to propose this enhancement. After analysis, here are the details from our engineering team :
SAP PI itself is an integration tool which already provides the IDoc connector through which IDoc can be exchanged between two SAP systems and/or one SAP and external systems.
the IDoc Connector supports IDoc Communication based on the ALE Mechanism and it supports SAP ERP application.
We cannot post IDocs to SAP PI using the ALE since its not supported on PI systems. There is a possibility that there are webservices exposed from the PI through which IDoc can be posted via PI to underline SAP ERP systems. But that cannot be supported in IDoc Services, its not a webservices connector.
As a conclusion, the best approach would be what you were already considering : use SAP REST service on SAP PI (and Hierarchical stage to generate IDOC XML files).
Thank you.
SAP PI is used as a gateway for SAP FI. We are not allowed to communicate with SAP FI directly. AAE/AEX is currently only supported technology in new PI servers. That is why we have two options:
- use SAP REST service on SAP PI (and Hierarchical stage to generate IDOC XML files) - then we could delete SAP pack because it becomes unuseful
- get new transport support in SAP IDoc Loader
Thanks for submitting this idea. SAP PI is currently not supported by the packs.
To proceed with the analysis, we would need more details on your use case, especially, what use case are you trying to address
Are you trying to move data from SAP PI to something else?
what would the AAE/AEX mode would allow you to do with Idoc stage in datastage?
Thanks in advance for any additional details you can provide that would help us consider this.
