In IDA, make the "Align" buttons on the toolbar work as expected

I have 5 symbols selected that are randomly on the diagram. I click the "Align Top". The symbols move, but some of them move down. The expectation is that they would align to the top of the top most symbol. If I click "Align Left", again the expectation is that it align the symbols to the left-most edge of the left-most symbol. What happens is that the symbols move to one of the symbols in the group, but not necessarily the one on the left side.
