IBM Data Platform Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

InformationServer Clients ISTOOL "site awareness"

The ISTOOL is not Active Directory site aware. As a result, the authentication of the multiple ISTOOL commands within the batch job loading metadata into IGC goes across our world-wide cluster of AD servers (including Singapore and London, England). This eventually results in LDAP timeouts from the delayed responses from the offshore AD servers.

For example, New York computer in the configure subnet will contact New York Domain Controller first, not connect to all the domain controllers it sees even if domain controller is in Singapore through WAN connections. If the application does not leverage the AD site then the connectivity can be directed to any domain controller which can lead to poor performance because of network links.

We are batch loading data into IGC via Compact MetaDex client which connects to the IGC server via a service account. The service account is member of a group that has SuiteUser role. The following is a sample error message.

17/02/01 15:01:49 ERROR (IstoolLogAnalyzer.java:78) - ERROR: unable to connect to ISF server: emdr-igc.tdbank.com
17/02/01 15:01:49 WARN (IstoolLogAnalyzer.java:80) - Reason:
CDISF0005E: To log in, you must have at least one of the following
roles: SuiteUser.

The following is a sample call to istool.bat

C:\IBM\InformationServer\Clients\istools\cli\istool.bat workbench
generate -dom emdr-igc.tdbank.com:19040 -authfile "C:\Users\webers3\AppD
ata\Local\Temp\igcAuthFile4638860335514766838.metadex" -input "C:\Users\
webers3\AppData\Local\Temp\implementedDataResources-2078791027661681440.csv" -archive "C:\Users\webers3\AppData\Local\Temp" -log "C:\Users\weber
s3\AppData\Local\Temp\istool-2017-02-01_15-02-36-GenerateIsxFromCsv4792527132177499520.log"

The auth file is the encrypted password for the service account used in
the connection.
