Need to include '_' in the names of instances.

We were not able to name the instance with a underscore '_'  in it.

The instance creation process is managed by the SWHub platform, with WxO acting as a consumer. Currently, SWH enforces a validation rule that disallows the use of '_' in instance names. From the WxO side, there is no such restriction. If SWH can remove this validation, underscores can be supported.

    Request

Verizon needs the ability to include underscores _ in watsonx Orchestrate instance names.

    Business Justification

Verizon appears to have naming conventions, automation patterns, or internal operational standards that require underscores. Large enterprises frequently rely on strict naming standards to ensure consistency across environments, scripts, monitoring tools, ticketing systems, CMDB records, and operational documentation.

If IBM platform naming rules do not support characters commonly used in Verizon’s internal standards, Verizon may be forced to create exceptions or maintain inconsistent names across systems.

    Impact if Not Delivered

If underscores are not supported, Verizon may need to deviate from internal standards, create manual naming workarounds, or maintain separate mappings between IBM platform instance names and Verizon’s internal systems.

This can create avoidable confusion, increase administrative overhead, and introduce inconsistency across operational tooling.

    Business Value if Delivered

Supporting underscores in instance names would improve enterprise fit, reduce naming friction, and allow Verizon to align wxO naming with existing internal standards.

This is a relatively targeted usability and governance enhancement that could improve day-to-day platform administration.
