Enable copy icon on agent responses via webchat configuration

The embedded webchat sinppet on Watsonx Orchestrate does not provide a configuration option to enable the copy-to-clipboard icon on agent responses. To make this visible, we have to use CSS overrides to unhide it, which is fragile and not officially supported.

Current workaround: To make this visible we use custom CSS to force the copy icon to display. This can break with UI updates and is not a documented or reliable approach.

Solution: Add a configuration property on the agents configuration (e.g. showCopyButton: true/false) and it would allow us to enable or disable the copy icon without relying on CSS.

    I see, thanks for the clarification. Why do you want to hide it Freddie? In any case, it does not occupy real estate on chat, and its not like we can block the user from copying the text manually either (by selecting the text and doing a Copy/Paste action)?

    Hi Kiran,

    Thank you for the clarification. I’m aware the copy button is visible by default — our requirement is actually the ability to disable it via configuration.
    Currently, the only way to hide the copy button is through CSS overrides, which is not a supported or reliable approach. It would be great to have a configuration option (e.g. showCopyButton: true/false) to control its visibility without relying on CSS 🙂.

    The copy button is already visible on embedded chat. The button only shows up when the end user hovers over the response they want to copy (except for the latest response - the latest response always shows the copy button)
