Static selections as search scope for rich searches

Product: MDMCE 11.5.0 - Search inside static selections
The current user interface does not allow the possibility to search within a selection. The natural place for such a restricted sub-search should be the "Scope" section in the rich search screen, but there does not seem to be a way how to configure anything different from Search Scope = "ENTIRE_CATALOG" even though the KnowledgeCenter literally states that it is possible to specify the search scope:
http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSWSR9_11.5.0/com.ibm.pim.man.doc/pim_tsk_searchingforitemsinacatalog.html
"Optionally, specify the search scope, attribute to sort on, and save type in the Search Options section."
The "Scope" section in the rich search screen should allow to choose a (static) selection as search scope.
