After enabling schedule for report job it should only get triggered at next scheduled time even if it has a pending backlog.

Hi Team,

On production, we have one scheduled report job. Which usually runs at 7 PM AUST.

Due to deployment activities on production, we disabled that schedule on 21-06-2023.

There was some backlog data present that needed to be processed by this job.

On 23-06-2023 we re-enabled that schedule at 11.32 AM AUST.

It got triggered immediately at 11.32 AM. Ideally, it should wait till the scheduled time and should run at 7.00 PM AUST.

After checking with Product Engineering team came to know that,as soon as we enable the scheduler the service tries to check for the jobs that are assigned to run at lesser time than current time so the job run starts immediately.

Hence we are raising this RFE, After enabling schedule for report job it should only get triggered at next scheduled time even if it has a pending backlog.

    When a job is enabled and at this point if there is a shcedule prior to the current time stamp, then the job will be executed as per that schedule. As per the details provided, there indeed were some tasks pending from previous schedule so it is bound to complete them immediatly. This is the intended feature of the scheduler and hence there is no plan to change this deisgn
