IPM FP12, Using encrypted DB password means DB maintenance scripts cannot be automated

Ref - PMR TS004780329. Raising RFE as suggested by Support team.

In DB.XML, we use the db_password_encrypted option, this is for security compliance reasons, and cannot be avoided.

Since we implemented this, certain DB maintenance scripts now ask for a password every time they run.

For example:

  • Analyze_schema.sh

  • delete_old_versions.sh

  • verify_tables_indexes.sh

This means that these tasks cannot be scheduled to run automatically on a daily basis.

Please modify these scripts to use the encrypted password.

There are no plans to address this in near future. Also, to be clear, the password needed for the scripts has no corelation to the settings in DB.xml. You can use your own method to keep encrypted password in file and decrypt it before passing it as an argument to the shell scripts.
