Business-day reminders for OpenPages workflows

In OpenPages workflows, reminders are currently calculated using calendar days. This causes notifications to be triggered during weekends or holidays, even when users are not expected to take action. There is currently no available workaround to configure reminders using business days only. We propose adding an option in the workflow reminder configuration to calculate deadlines and notifications based on business days, excluding weekends and, if possible, configurable holidays. This would improve the accuracy of reminders, reduce unnecessary notifications, and better align workflow deadlines with the organization’s actual working calendar.

    You could consider the Smart Actions for OpenPages product by IBM Business Partner Crystal Computing.

    Smart Actions is a productivity add on for OpenPages and with it you could easily create the functionality you want in less than a day of configuring. No Java or other programming skills required. In this scenario, you would have a scheduled job running on business days that sent out the reminders based on your business rules. Even better, Smart Actions makes it trivially simple to have these notification emails grouped into one email per user containing multiple items - this massively reduces the number of emails a user receives.
