Support Per-User Authentication for OpenPages MCP Server (On-Premises)

Current OpenPages MCP Server deployments for on-premises environments only support server-based authentication (OPENPAGES_AUTH_MODE=server). Our organization is evaluating the integration of OpenPages with external MCP clients such as Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio. For this use case, user-level authorization based on the actual end-user identity are required instead of relying on a shared service account.


We would like OpenPages MCP Server to support per-user identity propagation from external MCP clients by allowing Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID user tokens to be passed through the MCP Server to OpenPages REST APIs.


This capability would enable:

  • User-level authorization in OpenPages

  • Better security and compliance

  • Secure integration with enterprise AI platforms and MCP ecosystems

  • Reduced reliance on shared service accounts


For regulated organizations, user-level authorization and auditability are mandatory requirements. The current service-account approach does not meet these requirements when integrating OpenPages with enterprise AI platforms.
