z/OS Infosphere Optim - Data Migration : add a DELETE DLI function

Our SI is mixed DLI and DB2. Therefore, our OPTIM ADS use DLI database and DB2 tables.

Before we refresh data, we delete DLI et DB2 data in cohérence. The deletes are only partial [DLI Bases and DB2 tables are not emptied]

Optim offer a standard DB2 delete process but no DLI delete process.

In the past, we have wrotten Optim exits to deal with the lack of this feature.

But now, the initial developper is retired, and the exits are too hard to properly maintain.

    Hi,

    Your answer suggests that the need is ������universal������ for many DLI customers
    A few complementary ��l��ments :

    * My shop will not purchase, Optim Distributed, IBM had lost this battle long ago
    * You may reserve the DLI Delete to very basic ADS, child databases and ADS without any logical relationship involved

    Hi, this is a long standing and well known requirement. We have not implemented it in Optim native z/OS because of the work required to reduce risks and possible unintended consequences that come with deleting IMS data. The risks include that IMS parent child relationships and logical relationships can result in more deleted data than expected.

    Optim Distributed can be used as a workaround. Optim Distributed will permit deletion of an ODBC or JDBC data source. This places the burden of ensuring safe deletes clearly with the user and not with Optim.

    I don't see this being implemented in Optim native z/OS in the near future (through the roadmap horizon of Q1 2022). We will reconsider in the future.
