Having worked with other CPM tools as well as Planning Analytics, I have always wondered why this feature is not supported in PA. Allowing a user with admin access to a database to impersonate another user is something I use all the time in other tools, and not having this in PA makes testing security a thousand times more complicated.
Since TM1Py supports impersonation, I do not understand why IBM's native user interfaces, like PAW, cannot do the same.
Indeed impersonification is a very helpful feature.
BTW currently you can do it in TeamOne: https://succeedium.com/teamone/doc/users.html#impersonating-users
TeamOne Security Tracer can also explain the user access: https://succeedium.com/teamone/doc/users.html#security-tracer
what is the current status for this idea?
Updated status to future consideration. Although this idea is not on the current IBM Planning Analytics roadmap we will keep it in the idea backlog and reevaluate at a later date.
This is absolutely needed. Motio has a product called PersonaIQ that allows seemless impersonation, but sadly it's not available since we went to PA Cloud. Most common tools allow for impersonation without paying for additional test licenses and writing custom scripts to copy user groups (which is what we're doing). It doesn't handle workbook/folder access in PAW though.
