Automated Deployment of PAW Objects from NonProd to PROD

In an environment where DEV team must not have access to PROD, creating books and applications and setting permissions in DEV environment and pushing them to PROD is not possible in PAW. It will require a human to interact with the PAW UI to do staff manually to move things into PROD and configure permissions.


We need to automate deployment from DEV/TEST environment to PROD environment. We should be able to move file objects from DEV/TEST server to PROD server and then run a script to implement the changes to PROD environment. We are able to do this for the components that are stored in TM1 Server. We should be able to do the same for the components that are stored in PAW environment.


Without having this feature, in such environments, we will still need to continue relying only on models that has all key objects sit on TM1 server and stay away from using objects that sit on PAW server.

    Updated to future consideration. Planning Analytics Workspace will provide API endpoints for rebuilding and deploying Lifecycle Management snapshots that can be leveraged by automation tools. Note that Workspace does not currently contain scheduling capabilities for this type of automation. However, we are planning on adding limited scheduling capabilities starting in 2024.
