Updating Cognos Integration Server Connection from backend using SQL DB

This is regarding updating the Server details in the Connection from Cognos Integration Server.

As a part of updating the BW server details, we need to do the following:

1)Export the selections

2) Delete the selections

3)update the connections

4) Import the selection (we can see the selection ids are now changed)

5) Because of step 4, we have to update selection ids in all the jobs/tasks in CCC

These are not a day activity. Entire thing will take a min of 3 days including the connection testing part. When we do this thing in production then there will be adown time of 2-3 days which is not acceptable by the business.

There is an alternative way to update the connection details without disturbing connections, selections and the CCC tasks by updating the connection string from the SQL DB. But IBM said that the Development has confirmed that this something they have never supported or promoted with client.


We need to do this changes in Prod environment in a weeks as BW is migrating to the new environments.
