Using Virtual Dimensions in Dynamic Report in PAfE

In order to enhance reporting, PAfE will be part of our journey until PAW has a workable alternative. Having the ability to report on virtual dimensions, makes the flexibility and timeous turnaround of changes to reporting dimensions fast and viable.

Currently we report on different dimensions that needs to be updated every year or so, therefore the cube has to be rebuilt by the developer and processes updated every time.

One of the main reasons we were so eager to move to PAW/PAX is the virtual hierarchies as the attributes for grouping projects is every changing. If we can't use these in reporting where we have the flexibility to arrange our report accordingly, it is not much use.

    Updated to 'In development'. IBM will support hierarchies in the upcoming Universal Report report type. Note that the IBM Planning Analytics team is not planning to support hierarchies in Dynamic and Custom reports other than in select new functions (e.g TM1Set). Migration to Universal Reports will be recommended if hierarchy support in formula mode reporting is required.
