Is this request specific to the cell annotations feature in TM1, or just string cells in general? The IBM Planning Analytics team is working on a significant update to formatting on the cube viewer. This update will provide a lot more flexibility to format all rows and columns in the cube viewer. it will be possible to format string cells with a unique font, text color, background color, etc. However, this formatting is just applied to the cube viewer in Workspace. We are not storing the format detail in TM1. This means that it would not be possible to format specific content (e.g a single word) in a cell. The format will still apply to all content in the cell.
We could consider storing format detail as part of the string, but this would likely cause compatibility issues with other TM1 clients.
