Schedule GitHub Pushes

We have adopted the use of GitHub with change control in Workspace. Across our IT group, we have implemented continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools to run automated test suites, and automated deployments. We would like to be able to schedule a github push to our production server. This would allow us to run it at a specific time that minimizes the impact to our user community. It would also avoid technical staff from staying up very late to do deployments outside of business hours. This functionality will also help us move towards a CI/CD pipeline.

Current State

  1. A change has been approved for production deployment

  2. Technical staff work outside office hours to deploy the GitHub branch manually

Proposed State

  1. A change has been approved for production deployment

  2. Technical staff can schedule the deployment of a GitHub branch to happen at a specific time

This idea is not under consideration. The GIT feature can be accessed through the TM1 REST API. Scripting and automation tools can already be used to schedule the execution of the required API calls to push or pull objects to a repository.

Note that Planning Analytics does not include any scheduling capability other than chores. Using TM1 v12 (Planning Analytics SaaS or CPD) it should be possible to use the ExecuteHTTPRequest function to call the API endpoints to push or pull from GIT.
