PAW Exploration View Custom Column Headings

PAW Exploration view, would like the ability to construct custom column heading names and arrange for cleaner reporting display.

Often using a stacked column dimensions, the column heading may show repeated elements, or displaying stacked column element that is not necessary for user to see, making it seem cluttered to the end user.


The exploration view should enable toggling to customize column heading view. This will present the same stacked column heading grid but enable: custom text, merge rows, merge columns.


Workaround is to completely hide the current column headings. And use PAW Textbox to write custom headings name, merge heading rows columns to simplify display but manually adjusting to size and span column width. This loses the exploration view interactivity with the column headings and hard to maintain for large views.

PAfE Excel custom column heading is easily achieved. But would like this ability natively in PAW.

    We are planning a number of enhancements to the cube viewer to provide more presentation options as part of the IBM Planning Analytics 2024 roadmap. This include:

    1 - Renaming members in the header areas (without a calculation)

    2 - Displaying the dimension, hierarchy, or subset name on the headers for the row column headers.

    3 - Custom formatting the cells that contain the member names based on properties of the members.

    4 - Improvements to keep consistent width of the row headers.

    Merging cells is not under consideration.
