This idea is not under consideration. There is already a tooltip that shows the full path of the file when using a file as a data source in the TI editor in Workspace.
Formulas in variables in the older client tools simply generate TI code. We will enhance the guided import feature in Workspace to support calculations to also generate TI code. However, we are not planning on adding the variable formulas and mapping features directly in the Workspace TI editor.
