Display Workbench tabs on left hand side down the page

Is it possible to display workbench tabs down the page on left hand side instead of across the top of the viewer? Often the occasion when up to 15 to 20 tabs can be in use and navigation is very clunky, and more difficulty when trying to move related tabs together, particularly if a new tab is added, it defaults to the end, and you can only move across to the left on the visible page, and with greater than 15 tabs, this can be very arduous. As more tabs can be displayed down the page than across it, this would make navigation and moving tabs much faster.
