Hide Hierarchy Name in Column & Line Charts that Actually Works

I received this response from raising a ticket about the hide hierarchy name toggle not actually working:

"Hide hierarchy name" in legend property is currently an expected limitation of the chart engine we are using. When using multiple members for the measure/y-axis fields like the "Column length" field in Column & Line chart, the labels shown on the labels work differently than the labels for a normal legend (via the "Column color" field for example). The "Hide hierarchy name" legend property only applies to the normal legend labels.

In the past, we've attempted (briefly) to resolve this specific issue, but the changes required to fix it introduces other defects in the product unfortunately. It was decided that this limitation was less severe so that is why we see it in the product.

From a developer perspective this may not be a big deal, but please consider this from the perspective of someone who has to explain to business users/executives that it is impossible to make PAW column and line chart legends (as an example) not look absolutely bush-league and unreadable.

Please take another crack at this.
