ApplicationSecurity entries are lost when existing Websheets are replaced via PAfE

We control user access to applications/folders and individual web sheets in TM1Web via the system cube ApplicationSecurity (dimensions Groups & Applications). This defines which rights each user group has for which web sheets. It often happens that adjustments are made to a web sheet and the old version is replaced by a new version in TM1 Web. The “Update” function in Perspectives is used for this purpose.

In PAfE, only the “Publish” function is available, but this allows you to publish to an existing file so that it is replaced by the new file. The assumption was that this procedure in PAfE would have the same effect as “Update” in Perspectives. However, there is one crucial difference. While ‘Update’ via Perspectives retains the entries for the updated websheet in the ApplicationSecurity cube, “Publish” via an existing file deletes all entries.

Example

  • Entry in }ApplicationSecurity, in cell [}Groups: UserA; }Applications: WebsheetX] = READ
  • If WebsheetX is replaced using the “Update” function in Perspectives, the READ entry remains.
  • However, if WebsheetX is replaced using the “Publish” function in PAfE, the READ entry disappears.
  • I would have expected the READ entry to remain even when replacing a websheet via PAfE.

Access control of websheets using }ApplicationSecurity is an essential part of the authorization concept of our TM1 applications.
