Multi-selectors and option to receive synchronization events

Multi-selectors in PAW can only send synchronization events, but cannot receive them. While this works for certain requirements, it presents risks when synchronization is enabled book wide, as illustrated in the example below. It would be helpful if the option existed for multi-selectors to also receive synchronization events, perhaps as a properties option or similar.

Multiple multi-selectors Example:
Sheet 1 has a variance report comparing 2 versions. These versions are selected using the multi-selector on a “Workbook” sync group. The view reflects the 2 versions as required.

Sheet 2 has an alternate variance report (maybe a line chart) comparing 2 versions. These versions are also selected using the multi-selector on the same “Workbook” sync group. The view also reflects the 2 versions as required.

The workbook is saved with both multi selectors and views showing Actual and Budget version

A user opens the workbook and, on Sheet 1, changes the multi selector to show Actual and Target versions. The report updates – all good.

The user then navigates to Sheet 2. The multi-selector still shows Actual and Budget but the report below shows Actual and Target! Not good. It’s also dangerous especially if the view selections are hidden (as they often are in a dashboard) and only the multi selector is available and the report… it would be interpreted as Budget version instead of Target version that it actually is…

The work-around is to not allow a user to use a multi-selector on the dashboard with the report, but to only have it on an overall sheet for a workbook, meaning the user needs to click back and forth to achieve this.

If the option existed for a multi-selector to also receive sync changes (from another multi-selector) this can be avoided.
