Make the Filter Pane in PAW Dashboards Collapsible / Hideable (Toggle + State Persistence)

In IBM Planning Analytics Workspace dashboards, the filter pane (global and tab filters) is always visible and occupies a significant portion of the available screen space. This reduces the usable area for charts, tables, and other analytical content—especially on smaller screens. Proposed enhancement: Introduce a native option to control the visibility of the filter pane, including:

• A toggle button to collapse / expand the entire filter pane
• Option to completely hide the filter pane (similar to container visibility behavior)
• Ability to persist the state (expanded / collapsed / hidden):

  * per user

  * and/or per dashboard

Additionally, consider allowing granular control:

• Separate visibility for global filters and tab filters

Business Value

• More usable screen space   → Increased focus on charts and tables instead of UI controls
• Improved user experience   → Users can hide filters when not needed and focus on analysis
• Modern, cleaner dashboard design   → Aligns PAW with current UX standards in BI tools

Current Workaround A similar behavior can be achieved using:

• custom filter widgets

• visibility rules

However, this approach:

• requires significant manual effort
• increases maintenance complexity
• is not intuitive for developers or end users

A native solution would be significantly more efficient and user-friendly. Additional Considerations (Optional Enhancements)

• Define default state (expanded / collapsed) at design time
• Smooth expand/collapse animation for better UX
• Keyboard or accessibility support for toggling

Summary This enhancement would bring IBM Planning Analytics Workspace closer to modern BI usability standards, improve dashboard clarity, and significantly enhance the overall user experience—especially in space-constrained scenarios.
