This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

I have marked this idea as delivered with the release of the DefineCalc function. Please see: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=2fua12-definecalc-function-promoted-from-technology-preview-code-production-status-1.
The DefineCalc Excel function will be enhanced in future releases of Planning Analytics to include a UX that makes it easier to build calculations (including consolidations) using named subsets and other forms of MDX (e.g unnamed sets of members).
Hi Stuart,
This is a big deal to our company, Before KLA's move to TM1/Planning Analytics cloud we had the capabilities to use subsets in DBRW formulas and as a result of planning Analytics, that feature was taken away. To temporally resolve this is issues we had to recreate all the subsets our users used in their reporting into hierarchies so our users can still use their DBRW formulas. As a result of this loss of functionality we have encountered the following issues:
We now have a host of processes that now need to be maintained and run in order to maintain the same capabilities we have before we moved to PA Cloud
This has caused increased calculation times as a result
Has increased the time it takes to run a Save Data All
Has increased the time it takes to run a security refresh
Has caused the size of our environment to grow
Our user no longer can create their own subsets to use in PAX report retrievals
Anytime a user now needs to pull a subset in a DBWR formula the TM1 admin now has to get involved to build out a hierarchies/add to processes so they can use in their DBRW formulas
The loss of this feature has really cost us a lot of grief and a lot of additional work arounds which now take up more of the KLA TM1 admins time, which is unacceptable. Not sure what inspired IBM to takeaway such a valuable feature but you would think that trying to make a system better you would keep the features that add benefit rather than taking them away.
This idea is no longer under consideration. The request is not clear enough and more infomration would be required to properly evaluate this idea.
I've updated the status to needs more information. Can you please provide additional details about the problem being reported. What is the specific problem being encountered when using a subset in a DBRW cell? I'm assuming this problem is specific to TM1 Perspectives or TM1Web. Please note that we are no longer considering enhancement to TM1 Perspectives.
Renamed to catch the attention of more users because I know I have heard this request quite often.
