}ApplicationSecurity blank means NONE

At the moment, }CubeSecurity, }DimensionSecurity, }ElementSecurity_XXX, and even }CellSecurity, blank is NONE, or no access.

However, for }ApplicationSecurity, it is requiring administrator to populate NONE in order to make the application no access to end users.

This is quite troublesome for larger models, where it might have more than 6 folders, and maybe 3 layers per root folder, and having over 100 security groups, populating this grid of data takes a long time and unnecessary if making blank as NONE.

Right now on some model, just to populate NONE already taking over 3 hours of running time (no special logic) because the model has many applications built on it and require security control over it.

This will be a great help for developers. Please consider this!

    This question is really annoying.

Key users always think why this is different? Why are there special cases?

And Key User always can't remember it. It will always spend twice as much time verifying permissions.

This is exactly why I was suggesting to introduce another tm1s.cfg so that the parameter can be changed, the current design is extremely annoying to everyone:

    1. Administrator - Annoyed because it has to wait that long to "test" if the security assignment is correctly assigned.

    2. Developer - Annoyed because they need to write specific logic to handle this exception.

    3. End User - Annoyed because whenever }ApplicationSecurity is busy populating, the TM1 instance is locking everyone.

Understand the direction from IBM is focusing on Planning Analytics Workspace, but there are plenty of customers and TM1 fans are still using other Planning Analytics client tools like Perspective, PAX, PASS, etc, all these clients tools requiring to interact with }ApplicationEntries, these people who are using Perspective, PAX and PASS have their own use case and they love using these tools, please re-consider this enhancement request as this is really helping the Planning Analytics community.

Changed status to Not under consideration. By design, application security is not implemented in the same way as cube, dimension, element, and cell security. The default state is READ, but content in the application folders will inherit the permission of the parent folder. Changing a blank cell to NONE access would break this existing pattern.

The Planning Analytics team is focusing on content management in Planning Analytics Workspace and would likely consider enhancements to the Workspace content store before making changes to the TM1 Server application folders.
