Session timeout represents the event occurring when a user does not perform any action on a website during an interval (defined by a web server). The event, on the server side, changes the status of the user session to 'invalid'
Changed status to not under consideration. Although we do not plan to warn users regarding the timeout, we are planning on allowing the timeout period to be configurable by an administrator.
PAW timeout is really a headache for users; my clients spend most of their times a day in PAW. They often leave the browser window open when their work day ends, to be able to continue where they left off next morning. Unfortunately then they cannot 'renew' their login without logging off first, which means they lose all (reports-related) work in progress. Often the point when the login expires is entirely random, meaning: sometimes uses can continue to work for 2-3 hrs before they have to re-authenticate, sometimes they need to log in immediately. I'm hoping this experience can be improved for users.
The same applies to PAfE and PAW. Nothing worse than being in the middle of updating a book, clicking save and getting the Reload message - goodbye changes.
Not sure why the session is not extended whilst you are active. Can understand if you were inactive that it may disconnect due to inactivity but to have your session expire whilst working is frustrating.
