Fully agree – this would be a game-changer for branding, dashboard professionalism, and visual storytelling in PAW books.
The current limitation to basic predefined shapes forces workarounds with plain images/PNGs, which lose:
Vector scalability and crispness at any zoom level
Easy styling (fill, stroke, opacity) via the Appearance tab or palettes
Grouping, snapping, layering, and rotation like native shapes
Extending this to custom SVG uploads (as proposed) is excellent – especially if combined with direct integration or easy access to the Carbon Icons/Pictograms library (https://www.carbondesignsystem.com/guidelines/icons/library and https://www.carbondesignsystem.com/guidelines/pictograms/library). Allowing SVGs to inherit colors from global/book palettes (e.g., fill/stroke dynamically linked) would make corporate branding seamless.
Additionally, please consider expanding the feature to:
Animated GIFs as shape-like objects (e.g., for status indicators, loading animations, alerts, or dynamic icons) – with basic playback control and styling where possible.
Other custom image formats (PNG/JPG with transparency) treated more like native shapes (resizable with preserved aspect ratio, border/fill options, etc.), not just static pictures.
A reusable custom shape library (global or per-book) so uploaded assets can be dragged/reused across multiple books/dashboards without re-uploading.
This would enable much richer infographics, process flows, custom KPIs/icons, and branded layouts – without relying on external tools or losing editability. Many corporate PAW users would benefit hugely from this enhancement.
Thanks for considering – voting and hoping this gets prioritized!
