Applications and Plans - Assignment and Submission Improvements

The addition of Applications and Plans in the new PAW experience has been very helpful in making PAW more collaborative. However, there are some improvements needed to make it easier to use and be more useful:

  1. The default "Everyone" group that appears in "Set Permissions" of the PAW Reports and Analysis section should be available for selection when assigning groups in Applications and Plans. Currently, if we want to assign every PAW user to an Application or Plan, we have to create and maintain a security group that has everyone added, which seems redundant since there's already and "Everyone" group by default.

  2. Allow individual users to be assigned to steps in Applications and Plans. Just like in the "Set Permissions" section, it would be helpful to be able to add individuals. Currently, if we want only 1 person to be assigned to a step, we would need to set up a new security group with just that one person as a member.

  3. Give admins the option of requiring ALL members of the security groups assigned to a step to submit. Currently, a submission by anyone in the group marks the task as 100% for that group. There are situations, such as budgeting and forecasting, where we would want everyone in the group to submit to signify that they are done. Using the currently method of assignment, if a security group has 30 people and we want all 30 to have a submission, we would need to create 30 security groups with just 1 period per group.

  4. Add a columns in the "Manage Submissions" window that specifies the user who did the submission and the time the submission was done.

  5. Send email notifications:

    1. When steps are completed, send email notifications to the admins.

    2. When due dates are approaching, send notifications to the users of the groups to remind them.

Ad. 5 - email notification - is always expected by all customers, so why it is not in current plan?

1 . Support for the everyone group is on our roadmap for Plans and Applications. I've updated the status of this idea to reflect the commitment on support for the everyone group. Please consider opening additional ideas for the individual items.

    2. This is very unlikely as we may require groups in the future to support access and security in the TM1 database. We are working to build a connection between groups defined in Planning Analytics Workspace and groups in the TM1 database.

    3. This may be possible but will add a lot of complexity. As users are added and removed from groups it will change the % complete. Also, consider the case where users belong to multiple groups. This is not on our current roadmap. I will not rule this out as a future enhancement.

    4. We can add this to the roadmap. Agreed we should track which user in the group submits.

    5. Optional E-mail notifications are planned. This is on the roadmap but no current ETA.
