Pulling the member selector results in a dropdown selector in the dashboard - correct. But this selector is rarely possible to format (font, background color, size etc.). Please consider that for the future dropdown-member-selector.
I have marked this as functionality already exists. Note that there are two different selector widgets in Workspace. I believe the set selector widget feature is what is being referred to in this idea. It is also possible to pull the member selector widgets that are part of the cubeviewer, out of the cubeviewer. These member selector widgets provide a drop down list capability similar to the subnm.
The IBM Planning Analytics team does plan to merge the set selector and member selector to a single widget that can be configured as either a drop down, or list.
