Still a critical need in 2026 – this limitation persists across PAW Explorations, Cube Views, and Grids/Widgets.
In the current Planning Analytics for Excel (PAfE – the active Excel add-in), users can simply hide the column with the original element/member names (via Excel's standard "Hide Column" feature). References, writeback, drill-down, and refreshes continue to work seamlessly on the hidden column, delivering a clean, single-column view showing only the desired attribute (e.g., Description, Long Name, or custom attribute like "Group", "Core", "Partner").
PAW lacks any equivalent: No option in Set Editor, view properties, or grid settings to hide the member name header while displaying only the selected attribute. Current workarounds (alternative hierarchies, manual column minimization/formatting) are maintenance-heavy, break in exports/PDF/Books, and not user-friendly.
This directly impacts business users (controllers, managers) who need readable, professional reports without technical codes cluttering the display – especially in Books, dashboards, mobile views, and shared exports.
Please prioritize this enhancement as part of the "hide member name header rows and columns" consideration mentioned in 2021. Extending it to Explorations/Cube Views (not just Grids) would close a major gap compared to PAfE behavior and reduce workaround effort significantly.
Use cases: Clean dimension displays for accounts, cost centers, groups/consolidations without showing cryptic codes next to descriptions.
Set to future consideration. We are considering an option to hide the member name header rows and columns in the grid view.
