IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Synchorization using dynamic subset

We used dynamic subset to synchorize the graphs and TI procesess in our PAW books as this is the optimal solution for our 85 users as it allow them to know what cost centre they are using and automatically reduces the amount of cost centres needed for each PAW book. The cost centres will automatically varies depending on what PAW book that they are in to do their rolling forecast. We have a few hundred cost centres and the dynamic subset will only display the numbers the users will need to run for their books.

We have lodged 2 cases with IBM Support on the issues of synchronisation of graphs and TI processes. We have been advised that there is a know limitation of synchorization with dynamic sets that pass selections from other dimensions to do cell data lookup. Hence, the optimal solution of using dynamic subset that pass selections from other dimensioms to do a cell data lookup will not work in Planning Analytics.

As a temporary workaround, we have to resort to using a picklist to set the parameter instead of Synchronisation in our PAW books. This is not optimal as this means that the users will need to select a cost centre from the pick list of hundreds of cost centres to run a TI process. We have 4 TI processes for each book.

Updated status to future consideration. Although this idea is not on the current IBM Planning Analytics roadmap we will keep it in the idea backlog and reevaluate at a later date.

Does this limitation only exist when the selector widget is dragged on the book (dragged outside of the cube viewer)? If the selector tile is left on the overview area of the cube viewer can the same problem be reproduced?
