Mutli-cube table

(Please refer to the file for detailed screenshots)

In the following example, we want to create a book in which end-user can define a mapping for an allocation.

We wish here to allocate Shared Adv & Marketing Expenses (from Europe Mkt services) across Europe Business Units. The Allocation key for each Adv & Marketing Expenses can be the Sales, Revenue or COS.

To store the user-defined allocation key for each account, we create a mapping cube with a picklist

We then build a report displaying both cubes

On this report we want to help the user define a mapping based on existing data (in large models the number of accounts can be huge). This means that the zero-suppression of this multi-cube report is going to be driven by the main data cube.

Here are the lines we want to hide (base on the zero-out of the data cube)

We then hide the second view row headers to “fuse” both view into one table

Blocking points

1 – It’s not possible for a view to drive the zero-suppression of another view. This means that it’s not possible to align both rowset when zero-suppr is on.

2 – It is not possible to sync the state of both view to keep them aligned: scrollbar, header size, zoom etc…

State your current workaround

There’s none in PAW. The alternative is to make an excel extraction and build the report manually through VLOOKUP

State any proposed solution

We should be able to create table that can fetch data from different cubes. The dimensions that we can place in Row/Column should only be the ones shared between the cubes. The user will have to choose which cube drives the zero-suppresion
