Faster Data Clear

We would like the ability to clear data in a cubes faster than we can today. Today, a ViewClear simply writes a zero into every populated cell in the view. In most use cases we are simply attempting to clear an entire scenario and reload. So in our case, (even using multi-threading) the clear takes almost as long as the data load. So is hoping we could create a sort of “truncate” function.

For example, if we have Scenario and Period as the 1st two dimensions in a cube. Could there be a faster way to delete all data under those nodes (like “Actuals” “Jan 2018”)? Could you just prune that part of the trie w/o having to iterate and write zeros?

My understanding from Hubert is that the ViewZeroOut function writes a zero into every populated cell in the view by iterating the Trie. I’m talking about something like SQL servers Truncate table function where rather than writing and deleting each individual row (one-by-one) the entire table gets truncated. So in the case described above where Scenario and Period are the 1st two dimensions in a cube and let’s say we wanted to delete (Budget, 2021) a “truncate view style” function” would navigate that Trie and simply remove all the relationships under those elements rather than have to iterate through all of the intersections and insert a zero.

The ViewZeroOut TI function already exists. This function is expected to clear data faster than iterating through all intersections in a view and setting each individual cell value to zero. I'm not clear on what 'ViewClear' functionality is being referenced in this enhancement request. Is this a feature of one of the TM1 client tools or the name of a TI process?
