Access applications in task pane instead of PAx ribbon

In Perspectives, applications are accessed through Server Explorer yet in PAx applications are accessed through the ribbon. Not only does this move impact the expected user experience for Perspective converters, but also creates many more clicks to access multiple files within the same application folder. For each file, a user will have to navigate to location of the application folder whereas in Perspectives you navigate once and open up all necessary files. There is also missing functionality to open up non excel based files using applications.

We have submitted two other RFEs in relation to modifying how applications work in PAx (119421 - open multiple applications; 119420 - support legacy application types) but this request is specifically to add back all the existing functionality of applications by moving them into the task pane structure.
