I'm updating the status to Not under consideration. The fill color for the selector tile does appear to work as expected. Note that the fill color can only be set when the selector tile is dragged outside of the cube viewer. Based on the date of this Idea this may have already been addresses as a defect fix.
Please note that we intend to update the selector tile in 2022 to support a modern user interface and additional customizations to both the look and feel and behaviors.
