Enhance Data Product Discovery and Preview Experience

Our customer requests enhancements to the Data Product Hub user experience in the following areas:

Sorting by number of views

In addition to the currently supported sorting by product registration date/time, the customer would like to sort data products by the number of views, in either descending or ascending order by an administrator.

Live Data Preview

The customer prefers to display a sample extracted directly from the actual data that has been loaded. ie, not only statistics visualization but also real sample data (similar to Catalog) 

Configurable preview scope

For the live data preview, the customer prefers to allow administrators to specify both the columns and the number of rows to be displayed. This would provide flexibility to exclude sensitive or PII-containing columns from the preview.

If supporting both configurable columns and rows is difficult or time-consuming to implement, the customer would alternatively prefer displaying a fixed number of randomly selected rows across all columns.

 

 

These enhancements are expected to improve data product discoverability, usability, and governance, and may be applicable to other enterprise customers as well.
