Incremental/Delta Processing for Large Document Updates in UDI Flows

UDI flows currently reprocess an entire document when any change is detected — even a single line edit. For documents with hundreds or thousands of pages, this means every page is re-chunked, re-enriched, re-embedded, and re-stored in Milvus, regardless of how minor the update is.

We need a way to detect what has changed in a document and only re-enrich the affected portions, rather than reprocessing the entire file end-to-end. Unchanged content should retain its existing embeddings and metadata in the vector store.

This would dramatically reduce enrichment and embedding costs, speed up update turnaround, and lower load on downstream services. This is critical for enterprise use cases involving large living documents that receive frequent but localized updates. The impact is not just technical but financial, as processing costs scale with total page count rather than the scope of the actual change.
