We replicate a lot of changes of our operational zDb2 data to a Db2 LUW (BLU) via IDR Queue Replication. The Db2 BLU is used as the data base of our datawarehouse processes. The Queue Replication uses Shared Queues which are mapped on Coupling Facility structures to fullfill high-availibilty requirements. The message size of these queues is limited to 62k, because of limitations to record sizes in the CF.
To support replication of XML data type you have to provided a technique which cuts in the capture process a big XML record in smaller (<62k) pieces and which assembles these pieces in the apply process to the original XML record.
A similar technique is available for Lobs and the idea is to transfer this technique also to XML columns. Base of the replicated data should be the Db2 log, that means chances to the XML data should be completly logged there.
