Submitting spark applications without the use of spark-submit binary

We would like to be able to submit Spark applications from external client as follows:
"java --classpath... --spark-master ...."
without the use of spark-submit binary. We tested this approach with java SparkPi example by adding parameters spark url and spark-defaults.conf path. However, the example fails with the following key error:
16:14:55.052 [main] ERROR org.apache.spark.ui.SparkUI - Failed to bind SparkUI
java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect
at com.ibm.crypto.provider.JavaKeyStore.engineLoad(Unknown Source

Just a side note, self-contained python application works and accomplishes what we're looking, but developers specifically need this to work for Java applications.

Michael Feiman provided instructions on how to address this use case via email which was verified by the client.
