Automatic server's OS version update

Computing power become faster and faster and customers want to get the result from computing service. So sometimes, customers buy new computer server and add them to LSF cluster. But every time, computer server's OS is different version. Additionally, managers of computing resource upgrade existing server's OS to new version or demanded version.

Every time, as like above situation, admin have to update OS version to LSF cluster_name file and lsf.shared file. But there are so many servers in the cluster. we had changed OS version manually in the past. But, most of customers has so a lot of servers.
We can change it one by one manually now.
So admin want to request this RFE to update new OS version to LSF configuration file.

    There is already a provided static elim to provide the OS version. If enabled, it is called once at host start up.

    The existing elim feature in LSF can support this functionality. For example, from lsf.shared:

    osversion String () () () (Operating System and version)

    These can be configured in lsf.cluster for the various hosts as follows:

    osversion [default]

    Then write a simple elim script called elim.osversion that does the following (assuming redhat)

    #!/bin/sh
    while true; do
    cat /etc/redhat-release | awk '{print $4}'
    sleep 600
    done

    Then, after reconfiguration, you could submit a job such as:

    bsub -R "select[osversion==7.5.1805]" sudo rm -rf /

    However, I agree, it would be nice to have something like this built-in. In the mean time, you have a workaround.
