LSF eauth setuid bit

I have a request for setuid permission in LSF eauth file.

Our customers use only root accounts for LSF services.

Under these conditions,
the customer request an official method to delete the setuid permission of the LSF eauth file.

Because if root owned files have setuid permission, security vulnerabilities can occur.

Assuming that the LSF service is managed only by root account.

It would be nice if we could add the ability to delete the setuid permission of all files with setuid permission.

As documented, the commands in /bin can be made setuid if you want to allow users other than root to use them.
The default behavior for the last 25 years has been for setuid on these commands to be enabled by default.
The default behavior was changed in 2020 such that setuid is not enabled by default for these commands. Furthermore, all admin operations that can utilise setuid have been moved to a separate binary.

However, eauth is required to be setuid and is used to authenticate the different components within LSF. If you remove setuid from eauth there would be no authentication between any components. We have no plan to lower the security posture, and as such, this RFE is declined.

If you do not want to use the cluster secret key, then you would have to configure kerberos authentication for the cluster.

If there is a specific vulnerability, rather than a blanket speculative statement, please raise it with support.
