Customizable ManagementHosts Resource group

I would like to request that IBM consider adding enhanced flexibility to the Multicluster SMC software by allowing the Management resource group to be customizable. Specifically, to have the ability to add a new resource group in addition to the software’s default group, ManagementHosts. This improvement would provide flexibility to use multiple Resource groups and customer defined  Resource groups. Thank you for considering this functionality enhancement to improve the Multicluster SMC platform.

    Hi Elsa and Adrian,

We already have a setting in SMCP.xml EGO service file to specify compute resource groups for cluster-level free slots using SMC_RESOURCE_GROUP_FOR_FREE_SLOTS. This value is shown in smcadmin cluster view. The SMC_RESOURCE_GROUP_FOR_FREE_SLOTS config takes a list of compute resource groups.

In this new Idea, Morgan is asking to specify a list of management hosts (other than ManagementHosts and InternalResourceGroup) to exclude from the application allocation information. Since we already have this similar config, can we reuse it for this project. Is Morgan ok to specify the inclusion list of compute resource groups vs the exclusion list of management hosts.

Elsa, are the "cluster-wide" slot metrics like freeSlots and totalSlots are used in placement policies in SMC?

The current implementation excludes ManagementHosts resource group from the calculation of "allocatedSlots" of an application in SMCP. However in certain cases, customers use a different resource group to start the SSMs. This leads to the SSM slot to be counted as an allocated slot. We need a way to exclude a resource group from the calculation of "allocatedSlots" for SMCP.
